WFCPC Presents at the 78th AACPDM Conference
Quebec City, October 23-26th, 2024
Nearly twenty members from the WFCPC's multidisciplinary team attended the 78th Annual AACPDM Conference in Quebec City this October. The conference brings together global experts in cerebral palsy to share information and ideas to bring the field forward.
Members from the Columbia's Departments of Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Complex Care joined the conference with us. The team presented three morning seminars, including a presentation on "A Multidisciplinary Approach to Patient Prioritized Outcomes in Shared Decision Making", by Jason B. Carmel, MD, PhD, Eduardo del Rosario, PhD, FNP-BC, Jennifer M. Bain, MD, PhD, Hana Azizi, MD, MPH and Agnes H. Whitaker, MD. The panel from Neurology, Orthopedics, Genetics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychiatry presented our synchronous and asynchronous multidisciplinary approach in shared decision making with patient families, with Dr. Bain and Dr. Azizi sharing cases on how this is implemented in practice.
The team also presented eight posters, with topics covering serial casting, dystonia, hemiplegia, genetics and community collaborations. For a list of our presentations and posters, check here. The conference was also a wonderful opportunity to gather the team to enjoy an annual team dinner.
The WFCPC is a long-time supporter of the AACPDM, and each year sponsors the AACPDM LifeShot Photo Contest. The contest results were announced on the final day of the conference. Check out the entries and the winners here.
